As a young boy in his home country of Colombia, German Benavides discovered his passion for art. Growing up, he was encouraged by his parents to go after his dream of becoming an artist. After graduating from high school, he left his small hometown for Bogota, Colombia, where he would continue his education and pursue his love for painting and all aspects of art. He attended the Art Institute of Bogota for design and also studied architecture at the University of the Andes.

He started a family and later relocated to the United States. It was there where he followed his dreams and dedicated most of his time to his work. He uses all mediums but prefers acrylic paint on canvas to capture his interpretation of the world around him. The splatters of paint, path of his spatulas, drops and throws of color all come together to create a picture of his current state of mind. He draws inspiration from his emotions, life, and family.

Abstract art is where he finds that he can best express himself, but he is always exploring his abilities and stretching his imagination. It is his true belief that art inspires happiness, and it is his privilege to be able to share his work.
